Skills For Life
Our Skills for Life initiative gives back to the communities under the education pillar through university scholarships. Since inception in 2001, the Skills for Life programme has awarded over 200 university scholarships to bright and needy students across East Africa, with 40 of them from Uganda. Every year, scholarships are awarded to bright and needy students who, in spite of excelling in their studies, cannot afford university education.
In 2017, we re-focused our scholarships to focus on Technical and vocational courses in response to the cry for more practical entrepreneurial skills for the youth to reduce unemployment levels around the country.
In 2018 scholarships worth UGX 116m were awarded to 30 students in vocational schools in Gulu and Kitgum.
In 2019, we awarded an additional 40 students in vocational institutes in Kampala and Kabale.
All the 70 students sponsored in the last 2 years will also benefit from mentorship and training to build their entrepreneurial acumen from Enterprise Uganda.
